Frequently Asked Questions

Have you ever found yourself a bit bored with your fitness (or circumstances) and longing for a more adventurous life? At Bliss Climbing and Fitness, you will experience a community of like minded individuals, living life to its fullest, as together you rock climb in our indoor, state-of-the-art facility. Whether you prefer the power and gymnastics of our 15 foot bouldering walls, the exhilaration of climbing on a rope on our 40 foot walls, or the freedom of using one of our auto-belays without the need for any partner, all of those bored feelings will evaporate in the atmosphere of Wichita’s only full service indoor rock climbing gym. And since new routes are put up every week, with difficulty ratings from beginner to crazy hard, you will always have something fresh to work on.

How do I get started:

  1. Fill Out Waiver (Either Online or In Person) – SIGN WAIVER HERE. Under 18? Make sure a parent or legal guardian fills out one for you.
  2. Get Fitted With Gear – We have everything you need. Our team will get you geared up with a harness, rock shoes and chalk bag. Just wear comfortable clothes that you can move in.
  3. Experience Our Fun and Informative 15 Minute Intro To Climbing Orientation – You will learn the essentials of how to use our bouldering room and how to clip yourself into our auto-belays (mechanical devices that allow you to climb our 40 foot wall without a partner) along with some basic rules for your time with us.
Everyone who enters the climbing area must have a waiver on file regardless of whether you are climbing or not. Anyone under 18 (eighteen) years of age must have this signed by a parent or legal guardian. To save time, the waiver can be completed online here.

Only children 4 (four) years old and older are allowed to boulder and rope climb with an approved child harness. Children under the age of 14 (fourteen) years old must also have adult supervision.

Nope! Just come in during regular business hours and one of our knowledgeable staff will give you a quick orientation and the opportunity to use Bliss’s bouldering room or our auto-belay. Then, when you are ready to step up to more technical and challenging climbs, you can sign up for one of our many belay classes and begin climbing on your own.

Nope! We rent harnesses, shoes, chalk bags and have snacks available for purchase. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own equipment (provided it is in good working order) or stop by our well stocked pro-shop and purchase the latest and greatest.

Absolutely! We want you to become the best climber you can be, so we offer everything from beginner belay technique classes, to advanced movement classes, personal coaching, climbing teams, and more. Inquire at our front desk about times and availability.

A better question may be: ‘can I learn to climb safely?’ Climbing certainly does have risks, however Bliss Climbing and Fitness is dedicated to your safety as you navigate these dangers. We make every effort to instruct our members and users in the proper use of safety equipment, to inspect our own equipment on a regular, scheduled basis, and to monitor the use of that equipment. However, ultimately, your safety is your responsibility. If you ever have any concerns about safety or questions on technique, please ask one of our friendly, knowledgeable staff members. We are here to serve you.

Bliss is open every day. We are located in North East Wichita just off Greenwich and 28th Street, east of Stryker Soccer Complex and across the street from Top Golf. Our hours are:

  • Monday thru Friday: 10:30am – 9:30pm
  • Saturday: 9:00am – 8:00pm
  • Sunday: 12:00pm – 6:00pm

Belaying is the act of taking up slack in a rope as a partner climbs in order to prevent the climber from hitting the floor as he or she climbs. Bliss offers training in the proper technique of this very important skill.

Bliss has a number of auto-belays. These allow a climber to climb without a partner. The device slowly lowers the climber in the event of a fall. All of our auto-belays are inspected regularly and factory certified on a scheduled basis.

Routes may be climbed with rental climbing shoes available in our gym, or you may bring your own rock climbing shoes. Shirts and shorts or pants should allow for ease of movement yet not be so loose so as to interfere with ropes, etc. Sport shirts, gym shorts, or form fitting sport clothes work best.

We have a variety of heights available. Our main room has 40 feet tall climbing walls for top-rope and lead. Our bouldering area is 15 feet tall.
