WOW!  What an unbelievable year!  Last year on Black Friday, Wichita Kansas overwhelmed Bliss Bouldering and Climbing Complex with over 120 visitors on our very first day of operation!  Since then we have taught hundreds of belay classes, introduced climbing to thousands that had never experienced this before, started Kansas’ first youth competitive team, been featured on every major television station, had world class pro climbers Jon Cardwell and Dave Graham visit (and Chelsea Rude will be here next month), hit over 4500 Facebook Fans, hosted birthday parties, corporate meetings, team building events, and bouldering comps, expanded our pro-shop, raised money for an adaptive climbing program, sent shoe boxes full of gifts to children in third-world countries, developed numerous programs, hosted the Reel Rock Tour, and watch your’s truly send V14 (ok, that last one might be a bit of a stretch, just got caught up in the excitement😜).

We at Bliss have SO MUCH to be thankful for, and it is all because of YOU!  Thank you so much for believing in us, for supporting us, and for telling your friends about us.  The statistics say that anywhere from 50-80% of startups don’t survive their first year, and while we still have a ways to go, thanks to you, that first year is in the books and we are STILL HERE BABY🤘!  I can’t begin to tell you all how grateful I am for that!

And not just us.  We all have so much to be thankful for.  Climbing is gaining momentum world wide with more and more media attention and the recent announcement that we will see climbing competitions in the 2020 Olympics!  As climbers, we all are also recognizing the role and responsibility that we each have to protecting and preserving our environment, which has contributed to a greater overall national understanding of these important issues.

Of course, the list could (and should) go on and on, with family, nation, health, freedom, and tacos among just some of the many areas we have to be thankful for.

Don’t underestimate the importance of this.  Studies have shown that people who tend to be more grateful experience better health, more success, longer lives, and higher climbing grades than those who constantly see the world as half empty (seriously, athletic ability is very closely related to mind set).

So as you sit down to that turkey dinner that could feed a developing nation, take a moment to reflect on all that you have been given.  It really is a great time to be alive!  And again: Thank You for being a part of our Thanksgiving this year at Bliss. I for one am loving the ride (although, would be even greater with a V14 send😉).
